Day 10
We woke up early and were transported to a camp just outside of Lake Manyara NP to meet with the group we would be joining: Amy from the UK, Sandra from S. Africa, and Parag from UC Berkley. We arrived just in time of a tasty breakfast before heading out to visit the Lake Manyara NP. The park is mostly known for it's birdlife and there definitely was quite a lot. There were thousands of flamingos in the lake that painted the horizon of the lake fluorescent pink. There were also huge troupes of baboons. We saw a lot of the standard ungulate wildlife, including elephants. We also visited a small hotsprings.
In the evening, our camp had local entertainment that included singing, dancing, and acrobats similar to cirque du soleil. It was actually quite amazing for such a little camp.
unlike in Kenya where we were staying in tented camps that had permanent fancy safari tents with beds, in Tanzania we would be doing "primitive" camping with our own tent and sleeping bags. We also traded in the van of kenya for a land cruiser in Tanzania
Day 11
Our camp sat up on top of a cliff with great views of the lake below. We arose early enough to see the sun rise up over the lake, which was very nice
