Christmas in Colorado

Had a good Christmas and New Year's in Colorado

12/21
Visited Zach in Crested Butte for a week.  I did a backcountry hut trip up Washington Gulch with my brother and some of his friends.  We snowmobiled most of the way up to the hut before our snowmobile got stuck as it had been snowing all day and night before.  The hut was really cool, and we got a fire blazing to heat the place up.  We skinned up to the ridge above the hut a couple of times for some powder runs.  Then we had some very tasty burritos and enjoyed beverages, the fire, and fun games with the snow falling hard outside.

12/22
B/c of all the snow, we skied out from the cabin back to the car.

Elisha was supposed to make it to CB in the afternoon but because of some car issues and Monarch pass being closed for several hours, Elisha didn't make it in until very late.  I took the bus to Gunnison to surprise Elisha and drive her the last part, but as I was on the bus, I heard that the pass had been closed.  So I chilled at a coffee shop and then went to a small, local bar and watched the Bronco's MNF game, which was fun.  Elisha finally rolled into Gunnison around 10:30, and then we drove on to CB in the snow.

12/23-12/26

The next several days, Elisha and I did a couple of beautiful cross country skis.  Then we did a couple of ski tours into the backcountry with Zach and Kaitlyn for some powder turns.  Christmas Eve we had a fun little party with several types of tasty appetizers and some special Christmas cocktails.  On Christmas day we had meat and cheese fondue after our ski.  And on the day after Christmas after our ski, we took a sleigh ride up CB mountain to Uley's cabin for a fancy dinner.

12/27
We drove back to Estes via Leadville so that we could see Tom Day

12/28-12/30
It snowed and was quite cold in EP, so Elisha and I did some various ski trips around EP and Rocky Mtn NP.  She of course loved seeing all the big bull elk, the deer, and the coyotes around the house and during our skis

12/31-1/1/15
We went skiing to Mary Jane and Winter Park with Phil and Abby.  It was a beautiful sunny day and we had lots of fun
In the evening we drove down to Denver to meet up with Jerod, Kristy, Dacre, and Danny for a little Antarctic reunion.  We met at the Yard House on the 16th street mall where we enjoyed some drinks before heading out to the 16th street mall.  They had little DJ's on each block, so we rolled into each DJ place and our antarctic group started dancing crazy, just like in Antarctica.  There usually wasn't many people dancing at the DJ spots, if any, and when we rolled in, we were quite the spectacle.  We definitely were featured on many videos as many of the passerby's were filming us.  We rang in the new year with fireworks on the mall.  Then Elisha and I headed to Tomakin Archambault's flat in LoDo to dance until 3am with the Archambault's and a bunch of their friends, which was fun
On New Year's day we headed up to Evergreen to hang out with my Uncle Kenny and cousin Kendra and my parents

1/2/15

Took Elisha on a technical x-country ski from Glacier Gorge up to Mills Lake.  It was a beautiful day and lots of fun, especially the fast downhill.  Tonight we're going to the Buffs Pac-12 opener against UCLA at the Coors Events Center.
